Week 3 Recap: Rookie QB Struggles

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

By Steven Van Tassell (@SteveVT33)

Let’s travel back in time to the NFL draft in April. Five teams (Jacksonville, New York Jets, San Francisco, Chicago and New England) drafted a QB with their first round draft pick, while a sixth team (Houston) didn’t have a first round pick, but used their first selection (in the third round) on a QB. In Dynasty Owner, on average, four of the five first round QBs were taken in the first six rounds of Dynasty Owner start-up drafts and in the first round of rookie drafts. Mac Jones was the exception with a start-up draft ADP of 85.3 and a rookie draft ADP of 12.8. Expectations were pretty high for the rookie QBs with plenty of Dynasty Owners believing at least one of them would play as well as Justin Herbert did last year (28.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points per game). If not at Herbert’s level, then definitely as well as Jalen Hurts did in the four games he started at the end of the 2020 season (26.5 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) or at worse how Joe Burrow did before he got injured (22.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points per game). Even the worst of the 2020 rookie QBs (Tua Tagovailoa) averaged 19.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in his nine NFL starts.

Both Lawrence and Wilson were expected to be starters for the Jaguars and Jets this season, while Mac Jones outplayed Cam Newton to win the starting QB job for the Patriots. Bears fans were clamoring for Justin Fields to start over Andy Dalton, while many felt that it was only a matter of time before Lance was the 49ers starter over Jimmy Garoppolo and Davis Mills would take over the reins of the Texans offense once the team had given up on the 2021 season. With a full training camp and pre-season games in 2021 that none of last year’s rookies had the benefit of, those high expectations seemed logical.

Well, being a NFL quarterback is pretty hard and the performances of these rookie QBs so far this season are proof of the difficulty. Those six rookie QBs have started 11 games so far this season (three each by Lawrence, Wilson and Jones plus one by Fields and Mills). In a majority of those games (six out of 11), the rookie QB has scored 10.0 or fewer Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Last year, the rookie QBs started 38 games over the course of the entire season and in only three games, did they have fewer than 10.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. The most Dynasty Owner fantasy points in those 11 rookie QB starts so far this year is 26.4 by Trevor Lawrence in Week 1. That’s fewer Dynasty Owner fantasy points than Herbert averaged in 15 starts in 2020 and similar to Hurts’ average in four starts.

No doubt that the 2021 rookie QB class has struggled mightily so far this season and Dynasty Owners who drafted them highly have been disappointed in their production. Even if those Dynasty Owners planned on having a rookie QB as their Bench QB all year, none of them are performing well enough to even be a steady Bench option as all of them are ranked outside the top 24 QBs right now (Lawrence is QB28, Jones is QB29, and Wilson is QB31). The struggle is real!

All stats cited are based on the Standard Dynasty Owner scoring system as outlined in the updated Dynasty Owner Constitution. Standard Dynasty Owner scoring gives you .1 points for every yard rushing or receiving, .1 point for every 2 yards passing, 1 point per reception, 6 points for a rushing, receiving or passing touchdown and 2 points for a successful 2-point conversion (rushing, receiving, or passing). Interceptions or fumbles lost cost you 3 points, while a fumble that is recovered by the player’s team is a loss of only 1 point. Bonus points are available for 100-199 yards rushing (2 points), 200 yards rushing or receiving (6 points), 300-399 yards passing (1 point) and 400 yards passing (4 points). There is also a 3 point bonus for clutch scoring, which is a score that results in a lead change in the final two minutes of the 4th quarter or overtime. Kickoff and punt return touchdowns are worth 6 points for the player and kickoff and punt returns are worth 1 point for every 40 yards.

Standard Dynasty Owner scoring for kickers gives you 1 point for every extra point, while a missed extra point will cost you 1 point. It’s 2 points for a field goal of between 0 and 39 yards, 4 points for a field goal between 40 and 49 yards and 5 points for a field goal of 50 yards or longer. A missed field goal of between 0 and 39 yards will cost you 3 points, while a miss of 40 yards or more is a loss of 2 points.

For the purposes of this article, ADP and Dynasty Owner rostered percentage statistics were current as of the morning of September 28th.

Dynasty Owner Player of the Week

Our third Dynasty Owner Player of the Week for 2021 is: Josh Allen

This week’s Player of the Week is also a QB who struggled as a rookie. Josh Allen threw more INTs (12) than TDs (10) as a rookie in 2018 and had three games with under 100 yards passing. However, he ran the ball very well with 631 rushing yards and 8 rushing TDs, so he wasn’t completely useless in fantasy as a rookie. Now, he’s the Dynasty Owner Player of the Week because he had the most Dynasty Owner fantasy points this week, as well as the best performance of the 2021 season by a QB so far. Allen threw for 358 passing yards and 4 passing TDs to go along with 9 rushing yards and a rushing TD (49.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points). It was also Allen’s first game of the season without a turnover. Allen nearly eclipsed the 50.0 point mark that he achieved twice in 2020 (50.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 2 versus Miami and 50.1 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 9 versus Seattle). His point total in Week 3 was also more points than he had scored in the first two weeks combined (41.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) for his Dynasty Owners who drafted him extremely highly this season (13.3 ADP) and may have been panicking a little bit after two consecutive average weeks.

Week 3 Points: 49.8

2021 Salary: $5,295,760

Cost per Point: $106,341

Congratulations Josh on winning your third overall Dynasty Owner Player of the Week honor. This one will go nicely with the two that you received in 2020. Now, you’re back tied with Derrick Henry and just one behind Patrick Mahomes for the most in Dynasty Owner history!

Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Week

Because this is Dynasty Owner and we’re all looking for value from the players on our roster, we also have the Value Player of the Week. The third Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Week for the 2021 season is: Dalton Schultz

With his first Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Week honor, Dalton Schultz becomes only the third TE to win it. Not a single TE did it in 2019, while George Kittle and Anthony Firkser won it in 2020. Schultz put together the best performance of his career this week with 26.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (6 receptions, 80 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs). Schultz was a Top 10 TE last year in Dynasty Owner, but many expected Blake Jarwin to be the #1 TE in Dallas this season as evidenced by the fact that Jarwin had a lower ADP (187.9 vs. 229.7 for Schultz) despite having a salary of $5.5 million for three more years, compared to just $728,090 for one year for Schultz. In the first two weeks of the 2021 season, Schultz had slightly more Dynasty Owner fantasy points than Jarwin (14.3 points vs. 11.7 for Jarwin), but neither one had been targeted much (8 targets for Schultz and 7 for Jarwin). Schultz was one of three Cowboys with more than 25.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 3 but both Dak Prescott ($40 million) and Ezekiel Elliott ($15 million) make significantly more than Schultz does and would need to score hundreds of points in a single week to be the Value Player of the Week.

Week 3 Points: 26.0

2021 Salary: $728,090

Cost per Point: $28,003

Congratulations Dalton on winning the first Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Week honor of your career and being the second consecutive Cowboys player to win it this season.

Honorable mention to James Robinson who scored 24.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (88 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 6 receptions, 46 receiving yards, 1 fumble) and was well on his way towards his first Value Player of the Week award for 2021 and second one overall before Schultz overtook him on Monday night. Robinson was the RB7 in Dynasty Owner in 2020 and averaged 18.45 Dynasty Owner fantasy points per game, but only was the Value Player of the Week once and similar to this week, was edged out of winning twice. Robinson had 21 touches (15 rushing attempts and 6 receptions) and 24.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 3 compared to 22 touches (16 rushing attempts and 6 receptions) and just 16.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in the first two weeks combined. If Jacksonville utilizes Robinson more like they did this week, he could be the Value Player of the Week at least once this year.

Players Who Should Have Been Starters This Week

Next, we look at those players who should have been one of your Starters based on their performance in Week 3. We aren’t going to write that you should have started Derrick Henry or Travis Kelce because barring injury or bye week, both of them should always be in your Starting lineup. Instead, these are players who might normally be on your Bench or Practice Squad (or even not on a Dynasty Owner roster), but likely weren’t Starters in Week 3 when they should have been.

QB: Kirk Cousins (MIN) – 34.3 points

Only two players in Dynasty Owner have scored 30.0 or more Dynasty Owner fantasy points in all three games this season – the G.O.A.T. Tom Brady and Kirk Cousins. Normally, I wouldn’t have a player rostered in only 3% of Dynasty Owner leagues listed here, but Cousins has been too good through the first three games of the season to ignore. Cousins is averaging 306 passing yards per game and has thrown 8 TDs and no INTs so far this season. While it’s been great fun mentioning his high salary and low ownership rates in the past, it’s getting to the point where anyone who has a Dynasty Owner team doing well needs to think about picking up Cousins, while using their Amnesty Provision if they are still rostering either Deshaun Watson at $39 million per year (18.9%) or Jared Goff at $33.5 million (1.8%). Same goes for Dynasty Owners with Carson Wentz ($32 million; 10.7% rostered), provided that they have $1 million in room under the salary cap. This week, Cousins had 34.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (323 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, 2 rushing yards, 1 fumble) to rank as the QB5 in Dynasty Owner for Week 3. He would have been a great Starting QB for the handful of Dynasty Owners with him on their rosters.

RB: Peyton Barber (LV) – 24.2 points

Believe it or not, but Peyton Barber is only 27 years old. Doesn’t it feel like he’s been kicking around the NFL for a long time? He did enter the NFL after only two years in college, so it’s his sixth NFL season (four with Tampa Bay, last season with Washington and this season with Las Vegas). Maybe that has something to do with it. After four years with Tampa Bay, he signed a two-year/$3 million contract with the Washington Football Team and had a great start for them with two rushing TDs and 14.9 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 1. However, he never mustered another double-digit point week in 2020 to go along with a 2.7 yards per carry rushing average. In 2021, he was released by the Football Team at the end of training camp. He signed with the Washington practice squad but was signed off of that by the Raiders a couple of days before the start of the season. After Josh Jacobs’ injury led him to be inactive in Week 2, Barber was declared the starter by Raiders’ coach Jon Gruden, and he promptly went out and averaged 2.5 yards per carry with 13 carries for 32 yards (3.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points). With Jacobs still out in Week 3, barber was the lead Raiders RB and topped 100 yards rushing for the first time since November 18th, 2018. Barber finished Week 3 with 24.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (111 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 3 receptions, 31 receiving yards, 1 fumble).

WR: Emmanuel Sanders (BUF) – 26.4 points

Last season, Emmanuel Sanders was expected to provide Drew Brees with another WR to throw the ball to instead of always seeming to target Michael Thomas. Despite finishing the 2020 season as the WR42 in Dynasty Owner, Sanders left New Orleans in free agency and signed with the Buffalo Bills. With Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley already established as the #1 and #2 WRs in Buffalo, Sanders was expected to be the #3 WR and possibly cede that spot to Gabriel Davis and be the #4 WR.  That’s why he had an ADP of 244.1 in Dynasty Owner start-up drafts. The first two weeks of the 2021 season saw Sanders put up 9.2 and 6.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points respectively and provide some decent Bench points to the Dynasty Owners with him on their roster (58.6%). In Week 3, Sanders had his best week since 2019 when he was on San Francisco as he scored 26.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (5 receptions, 94 receiving yards, 2 receiving TDs). That’s good enough that his Dynasty Owners should have put him in their Starting lineup this week.

Honorable mention to Sanders’ teammate Cole Beasley who had 20.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (11 receptions for 98 receiving yards). Buffalo had two WRs with over 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, while RB Zack Moss, TE Dawson Knox, WR Stefon Diggs and kicker Tyler Bass all had double-digit points. Not to mention what Josh Allen did. That’s what happens when your team puts up 43 points and 481 yards of total offense. While Sanders got a lot of his points on TD receptions, Beasley did it on volume with 11 receptions on 13 targets. Beasley and Sanders are tied with 194 receiving yards and 42.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points for the season, but Beasley is just a bit ahead of Sanders in all of the other important Dynasty Owner metrics ($7.25 million in salary, 62.7% rostered and 227.3 ADP). If you had Beasley on your Dynasty Owner roster instead of Sanders, it wasn’t too much of a drop off in points and both of them should have been in your Starting lineup.

TE: Tyler Conklin (MIN) – 20.0 points

Until Dalton Schultz’s performance on Monday Night Football, Conklin had more Dynasty Owner fantasy points than any other TE in Week 3. Yes indeed, he had more points than Travis Kelce, George Kittle, Mark Andrews and a host of other better known TEs. Kelce, Kittle, Andrews and Mike Gesicki had more receiving yards than Conklin this week, but Conklin had a TD, while each of the other three didn’t. As a result, Conklin finished Week 3 with 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (7 receptions, 70 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD). In the first two weeks, Conklin had only 11.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points and was probably not making everyone who started picking him off the Free Agent Auction happy at all. Since September 1st, Conklin has gone from being rostered in 37.3% of Dynasty Owner leagues to 90.5% of leagues now. After this week, I’m sure a Dynasty Owner or two in the remaining 9.5% of leagues will bid on his services and maybe even put him in their Starting lineup. That’s where he should have been in Week 3 for everyone who already had him on their roster.

K: Chase McLaughlin (CLE) – 18.0 points

After two weeks, Browns kicker Chase McLaughlin had only attempted one FG from 30 yards and seven PATs. He made them all, but since the PATs were the longest kick that he had even attempted, he had only scored 9.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in total. In Week 3 alone, McLaughlin attempted six kicks (4 FGs and 2 PATs) and made them all for 18.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. The field goals were from 28, 41, 52 and 57 yards respectively. While kicking for six teams over the past two seasons (Chargers, 49ers and Colts in 2019 and then Vikings, Jaguars and Jets in 2020), he had never scored double-digit Dynasty Owner fantasy points despite being active for 16 NFL games. Since his salary is only $762,500 per season, he is rostered in 95.9% of Dynasty Owner leagues but I’m not sure how many of those Dynasty Owners actually had him in their Starting lineup. Hopefully they did as he was the top kicker for Week 3 and is currently tied for eighth for the season.

Players Who Should Have Been on the Bench or Practice Squad

For every player who should have been in your Starting lineup but wasn’t, we have at least one highly drafted or highly ranked player who probably was in your Starting lineup, but would have been better left on your Bench or Practice Squad. Here are some likely Starters who scored very few Dynasty Owner fantasy points this week, so they should have spent Week 3 riding your Dynasty Owner Bench or hanging out on the Practice Squad.

QB: Justin Fields (CHI) – 4.6 points

All five of the rookie QBs who started in Week 3 could have been the choice here, but after all of the hype surrounding Fields and the anticipation of his first NFL start, more Dynasty Owners than should have probably started him. Those who did ended up with just 4.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (68 passing yards and 12 rushing yards). Fields didn’t have a turnover, so it could have been worse. Fields actually had more Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 1 (6.8) when he didn’t start than this week when he did. All in all, it was a terrible struggle this week for Fields and nearly all of the rookie QBs. Fields should not have been anywhere near your Starting lineup or Bench in Week 3.

As mentioned above, dishonorable mentions to the four other rookie QBs who started in Week 3 for their NFL teams. Davis Mills was the best of the four and he only had 14.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (168 passing yards and 1 passing TD). He was also the most unlikely one for any Dynasty Owners to start since he was getting his first NFL start on a Thursday night. Mac Jones had the second most Dynasty Owner fantasy points with 13.3 (270 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 28 rushing yards, 3 INTs), followed by Trevor Lawrence with 7.6 (219 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 27 rushing yards, 2 INTs, 2 fumbles – lost) and Zach Wilson bringing up the rear with only 2.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (160 passing yards, 2 rushing yards, 2 INTs). Not sure what kind of desperate straits your Dynasty Owner team would have to be in to have Wilson as your Starting QB, but he definitely should not have been. All of these rookie QBs should be on your Bench, or Practice Squad if you have three starting NFL QBs on your Dynasty Owner roster, until further notice.

RB: Damien Harris (NE) – 3.1 points

It was a pretty bad fantasy week for the New England Patriots, which as we all know is what Bill Belichick cares about the most. Only Kendrick Bourne (21.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) and Jakobi Meyers (18.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) did enough to be worthy of starting. Damien Harris did not with only 3.1 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (14 rushing yards, 2 receptions, -3 receiving yards) despite being the most likely Patriots player to actually be in your Dynasty Owner Starting lineup. It’s really bad when your QB is your leading rusher on the day (Mac Jones had 28 rushing yards). With Rhamondre Stevenson out again, it seemed logical that both Harris and James White would factor significantly into the Patriots offense, but White was injured early in the game after his first rushing attempt and quickly ruled out with a hip injury. Harris only had eight touches (six rushing attempts and two receptions) while backup RBs J.J. Taylor and Brandon Bolden had nine combined (four rushing attempts and five receptions). It wasn’t a great day all around for the Patriots offense and hopefully you weren’t counting on Harris to do well as a member of your Starting lineup when he should have been on your Bench.

WR: Robby Anderson (CAR) – 1.8 points

With Sam Darnold playing well through the first two weeks of the NFL season and the Panthers playing the Houston Texans, it seemed that starting Robby Anderson on Thursday night would be a good idea for Dynasty Owners. All off-season there was speculation that Anderson would be Darnold’s favorite target as the two had hooked up for 88 passes, 1,353 yards and 11 TDs in two seasons together in New York. They only connected once in Week 1 against the Jets, but it was a 57-yard TD pass, good for 12.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. And despite scoring only 6.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (3 receptions for 38 yards) in Week 2, Anderson was targeted by Darnold on six occasions. It wasn’t to be in Week 3 as Darnold looked to D.J. Moore early and often, while Anderson was limited to just two targets and 1.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (1 reception for 8 yards). Anderson is rostered in 95.9% of Dynasty Owner leagues despite carrying a salary of $10 million for this season (which increases to $14.75 million for the 2022 season). Anderson didn’t do much this week and starting him would have gotten your Dynasty Owner team off to a poor start in Week 3. Hopefully you didn’t do it.

TE: Robert Tonyan (GB) – 1.6 points

After the first two weeks of the season, Robert Tonyan was the TE12 in Dynasty Owner, but with only 17.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. He was also the 12th TE drafted on average in Dynasty Owner start-up drafts (ADP 114.0). If you waited to draft a TE after Kelce, Waller, Pitts, Kittle, Hockenson and Andrews were off the board, then Tonyan could easily be your Starter. The likelihood increased after he had 14.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (3 receptions, 52 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD) in Week 2 against Detroit. Despite 33 passing attempts by Aaron Rodgers in Week 3, Tonyan was only targeted once. He shouldn’t feel bad as Rodgers only had eyes for Davante Adams (as usual) who had 18 targets. However, any Dynasty Owners who had Tonyan in their Starting lineup are feeling bad about only getting 1.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points this week (1 reception for 6 yards). There aren’t a lot of TEs who should be in your Starting lineup every week regardless of the matchup and Tonyan isn’t one of them. He should have been on your Bench this week.

A dishonorable mention to T.J. Hockenson who only scored 3.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (2 receptions for 10 yards) after consecutive weeks with more than 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Hockenson was the #3 ranked TE in Dynasty Owner after the first two weeks, behind only Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski. He was clearly Detroit’s best receiver and led the team in receiving yards in each of the first two games. He had the most targets (20), receptions (16), receiving yards (163) and receiving TDs (2) on the team as well. However, this week, he had fewer targets, yards and Dynasty Owner fantasy points than his backup Darren Fells (3 targets, 2 receptions for 35 yards and 5.5 Dynasty Owner fantasy points). A disappointing outing against a Baltimore Ravens defense that gave up 26.5 Dynasty Owner fantasy points to Raiders TE Darren Waller in Week 1 and 23.9 Dynasty Owner fantasy points to Chiefs TE Travis Kelce in Week 2. Fantasy analysts were starting to mention Hockenson as being in the same tier as both of those guys, but likely won’t be doing it after this week’s Bench worthy performance.

K: Tristan Vizcaino (LAC) – 1.0 point

Starting Vizcaino in Week 3 was a good idea if you thought that the Chargers-Chiefs game would be a high scoring affair. That thought was correct as the teams combined for 54 total points with the Chargers defeating the Chiefs by a score of 30-24. With 30 points, it seems logical that the Chargers kicker would have more than just 1.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy point, but that’s how many Vizcaino scored as he missed two PATs, while making one, and also kicked a 24 yard FG. Vizcaino had been fine through two weeks with 12.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points (4 for 4 on FGs 39 yards or less, 1 for 2 on FGs of 40 to 49 yards and 2 for 2 on PATs). The Chargers have a very good offense so Vizcaino should keep having opportunities to kick, but if he keeps missing PATs, he won’t be worth using in your Starting lineup since he’ll probably not be kicking for the Chargers anymore.

Dishonorable mention for the second consecutive week to Jacksonville kicker Josh Lambo for his -1.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy point performance in Week 3. This was his second straight week with negative points and after the first one, he shouldn’t have been in anybody’s Starting lineup. However, when you score negative points and have negative points three weeks into the season, it’s pretty much required that you get mentioned here. Lambo has three fewer Dynasty Owner fantasy points so far this season than everybody reading this article. Dynasty Owners with Lambo on their roster (42.0%) would have been better off leaving the spot in their Starting lineup or Bench empty than having Lambo in it.

Dynasty Owner Match-up of the Week Recap – The Road Warriors vs. Dynasty Trade School (Mad Minshew)

The changing of the guard didn’t happen as the Dynasty Owner who appeared on the final 2020 Chase for the Ring leaderboard – Dynasty Trade School (Mad Minshew) – defeated the team that was #2 on the 2021 leaderboard after the first two weeks (The Road Warriors) by a convincing margin of 166.5 to 139.9. Everyone in Dynasty Trade School’s Starting lineup had at least 10.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, except his kicker (Younghoe Koo) who had just 9.0 points. Tom Brady led the Dynasty Trade School team with 38.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, while Alexander Mattison had 25.1 points in place of the injured Dalvin Cook. On the other side, it’s hard to quibble with The Road Warriors’ lineup choices, but Christian McCaffrey only had 6.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, DeAndre Hopkins had just 5.1 and T.J. Hockenson only scored 3.0 in a losing effort. The Road Warriors had a lot of Bench points, but that’s what happens when you have Justin Herbert (44.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points), Chase Claypool (18.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (17.9 Dynasty Owner fantasy points) all on your Bench. That’s why many people have commented that The Road Warriors’ Bench is better than a lot of other teams’ Starting lineup.

The win puts Dynasty Trade School (Mad Minshew) at the top of the League #27449 standings with a 3-0 record and 495.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. They are slightly ahead of Blue Mountain State who is also 3-0 and has scored 490.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. The Road Warriors slip down to 4th place in the League despite a league high 533.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. More importantly, will that be enough points to keep The Road Warriors in the Top 10 of the Chase for the Ring standings?

Chase for the Ring Leaderboard

The answer is Yes as The Road Warriors dropped slightly in the Chase for the Ring standings as they moved down five spots to 7th place, but despite the loss, they are still in the Top 10.

The Road Warriors are one of five teams from last week’s Top 10 to remain up there this week along with Crow Valley Corvids (down two spots from 1st place to 3rd), Miami Crypt Keepers (up five spots from 9th place to 4th), KingMelo (up one spot from 6th place to 5th) and Bastedos (down three spot from 7th place to 10th). The rest of the Top 10 are new with Heeb Unit being our new leader with 554.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. They were outside of the Top 25 last week, but a 204.8 point performance in Week 3 has them on top for now.

If you check out the full Top 25 standings, you’ll see that Dynasty Trade School (Mad Minshew) has a team in 16th place with 515.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. That team plays in League #27458, while the team that defeated The Road Warriors is in League #27449 and currently sits in 53rd place overall.

Conclusions

Hopefully your Dynasty Owner team wasn’t counting on one of the rookie QBs drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft this season. If so, it’s highly unlikely that your team is on the Chase for the Ring leaderboard or frankly, even has a 3-0 record at this point in the season. If you do, the rest of your team must be pretty impressive, and I’d love to see it. Send a picture of that team to me on Twitter (@SteveVT33) or tell me your team name and I’ll look it up. Then I’ll tweet out your roster and give you the props that you so justly deserve.

Congratulations to everyone with a 3-0 record right now. None of my teams made it to 3-0 as both of my previously undefeated teams lost in Week 3, while my other two teams won, so at least all four of them have a victory and a chance to make the playoffs. If your team is 0-3, don’t give up hope as there are still 11 more weeks of the Dynasty Owner regular season left.

If you need help figuring out how to replace that rookie QB who is struggling and left your team at 0-3, or have a 3-0 team that you want to keep on track, Dynasty Owner has plenty of great content coming out this week for everyone to check out. Later today (Tuesday), Jay Pounds (@jaypoundsnfl) is back with an article and video to help you figure out what players you need to target in the Free Agent Auction. Matt Morrison – The Jerk has an article and video dropping on Wednesday, then his Thursday Night Football preview on Thursday afternoon. Finally on Friday, I’m back with an article and video that will preview the Week 4 slate of games. I’ll also have another Dynasty Owner Match-up of the Week and see how my Week 3 recommendations fared.

Please read all of our articles, watch our videos on YouTube or listen to them wherever you get your podcasts. Don’t forget follow all three of us plus Dynasty Owner on Twitter as well. Thanks, and have a great day!
