Seahawks vs Football Team

By: Jay Pounds (@jaypoundsnfl)

Dynasty Owners, it is that time again and before we get into the article, I want to say that I hope all of you had a memorable Thanksgiving holiday. As always, we will cover last week’s Value of the Game before jumping straight into tonight’s game. If you recall in last week’s article, I mentioned the fact there was no real clear-cut Value of the Game and that someone with 3 catches for 20 yards would likely emerge victorious. Well, that ended up becoming reality with the winner of what was quite possibly the worst Value of the Game I have ever seen being none other than Darius Slayton. Slayton finished Monday night with a glorious stat line of 4 catches, 37 yards and a lost fumble resulting in 4.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Yea that is the kind of game the “values” had last Monday night between the Giants and Buccaneers. I probably look like I have my Adam Gase hat on after my pick last week (Tyler Johnson) couldn’t even outperform an average Darius Slayton game, but I refused to pick Slayton again after burning me with a 0.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points outing earlier in the year.

What to Watch For

In what seems to be the worst stretch of Monday night games this season, we have another not so intriguing matchup tonight. Although I am expecting a somewhat boring game there are quite a few things I will be watching for. Let’s start with what I will be watching for on the Football Team’s side of things first. The Football Team’s quarterback Taylor Heinicke tends to play well on big stages and will be looking to do the same tonight. Can he? I am not banking on it as I have him pegged for less than his projected 23.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy point total. Running back Antonio Gibson has struggled horribly this season compared to where he was drafted, but I am expecting a big game from him tonight. On the Seahawks’ side of things, Russell Wilson has struggled since returning from injury and I will be watching closely to see how he performs against Washington’s struggling pass defense. The other big thing I will be watching for from the Seahawks is if the running game can get going behind Alex Collins with Chris Carson being shut down for the season. If Seattle doesn’t put together a few wins throughout the back half of the season, one of Pete Carroll or Russell Wilson will likely be gone, if not both.

Jay’s Dynasty Owner Games of the Week

Each week I will pick two games that are close in score and will likely be decided during Monday Night Football. If you happen to find yourself in this situation on Sunday night, please get ahold of me on Twitter (@jaypoundsnfl) and I will gladly feature your game here.

Game 1 – League #27449

The Road Warriors – DK Metcalf in Starting lineup and Taylor Heinicke and Terry McLaurin on Bench left to play

The Road Warriors must be a bit nervous heading into tonight as they are projected to win by just over 2.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, which would put them at a devastating 9-3 record and would barely get them into the playoffs. I am joking of course; a 9-3 record pretty much guarantees a playoff spot in any league. While I tend to hate waiting for Monday night to decide my match-up, I wouldn’t mind being in The Road Warriors spot at all. Down but projected to win, their opponent only has one Bench player left, and Road Warriors still have two studs and a quarterback left to play. It doesn’t get much better than that if you are a Dynasty Owner in a close game. Either way The Road Warriors have had an excellent season!

Furious Ferrets – Alex Collins on Bench left to play

The Furious Ferrets have got to be furious ferrets right now. They have almost pulled off the David vs Goliath type upset, but after a solid week it doesn’t seem like it is going to happen. They need a low scoring game to knock off the team who is currently in first place in the Chase for the Ring standings. I am sure Furious Ferrets will be watching the game closely to see if they can earn some solid bragging rights throughout the platform!

Game 2 – League #27450

Social V – Taylor Heinicke in Starting lineup and DeeJay Dallas on Bench left to play

In my toilet bowl match-up of the week, it appears the 2-9 Social V team should pull off a narrow upset, as they are currently projected to score 3.75 points more than their opponent. Heading into tonight’s game Social V has his starting quarterback left to play which is always a big help to the point total. If the Football Team does well in the red zone, Social V will come away with an easy victory later tonight. If the Football Team struggles and lets the sly guy (aka Joey Slye) kick a bunch of field goals, Social V’s last place status in their league standings will remain unchanged.

Shillelagh Law – Joey Slye in Starting lineup left to play

Heading into tonight’s game, I think Shillelagh Law has one thing on their minds, a win to save themselves the embarrassment of losing to the last place team. As of right now, Shillelagh Law is projected to lose but I am not sure I would be all that worried as they have superman Joey Slye left to play. I am kidding somewhat, the real reason I would not be worried is because Washington is not a great offensive unit, and I am not expecting Heinicke to hit his projected point total. Either way it will be a massive fight to the death tonight!

Value of the Game

In tonight’s game, I had more than a couple options to choose from as my Value of the Game. The players in contention were Terry McLaurin, DK Metcalf, Antonio Gibson, and Alex Collins with DK Metcalf getting the nod. I have gone against DK Metcalf once this season and it cost me, and I will not be making that mistake again. Metcalf is going up against one of the worst pass defenses in the league and there is no reason to believe he won’t get loose a time or two in tonight’s game. I also like Metcalf’s chances because of how banged up the running game is for the Seahawks right now. If there is a game for Russell Wilson and this Seattle passing offense to get back on track, it’s going to be tonight against the Washington Football Team’s pass defense.
