With the first season of Dynasty Owner over and a winner of the Chase for the Ring (New York’s Strongest) announced, it’s time to recap the 2019 season and hand out some awards. Like the NFL awards, our Dynasty Owner awards are for the 14 game Dynasty Owner regular season. First, we’ll name the Dynasty Owner Player of the Year and Value Player of the Year. In addition, we have other awards to give away, including Rookie of the Year, Free Agent of the Year and Position Players of the Year and Value Position Player of the Year at every position (QB, RB, WR, TE, K).

All stats are based on the Standard Dynasty Owner scoring system as outlined in the updated Dynasty Owner Constitution. Standard Dynasty Owner scoring gives you .1 points for every yard rushing or receiving, .1 point for every 2 yards passing, 1 point per reception, 6 points for a rushing, receiving or passing touchdown and 2 points for a successful 2-point conversion (rushing, receiving, or passing). Interceptions or fumbles lost cost you 3 points, while a fumble that is recovered by the player’s team is a loss of only 1 point. Bonus points are available for 100-199 yards rushing (2 points), 200 yards rushing or receiving (6 points), 300-399 yards passing (1 point) and 400 yards passing (4 points). There is also a 3 point bonus for clutch scoring, which is a score that results in a lead change in the final two minutes of the 4th quarter or overtime. Kickoff and punt return touchdowns are worth 6 points for the player and kickoff and punt returns are worth .25 points for every 10 yards. Standard Dynasty Owner scoring for kickers gives you 1 point for every extra point, while a missed extra point will cost you 1 point. It’s 2 points for a field goal of between 0 and 39 yards, 4 points for a field goal between 40 and 49 yards and 5 points for a field goal of 50 yards or longer. A missed field goal of between 0 and 39 yards will cost you 3 points, while a miss of 40 yards or more is a loss of 2 points.

Dynasty Owner of the Year

This one is easy. It’s Eddie Driscoll, the owner of New York’s Strongest and winner of the first Chase for the Ring. If you haven’t heard already, Eddie was the only Dynasty Owner to go undefeated (14-0) in the regular season. He capped his season off by easily winning his League Championship and capturing the Ring.

Dynasty Owner Player of the Year

Our first Dynasty Owner Player of the Year is: Lamar Jackson

Jackson finished the Dynasty Owner regular season with 429.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points, over 40 points more than any other player. He started off hot with 47.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 1 and never really cooled down. Jackson only won the Player of the Week honor once (47.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 12), but only had less than 24.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points once as well (11.1 points in Week 5). As the last pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft, Jackson only cost his Dynasty Owners $2.37 million in salary this season (as well as for the next three years), making him an excellent value as well.

  • Regular Season Points: 429.7
  • Regular Season Salary: $2,367,912
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $5,511

Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Year

Because this is Dynasty Owner and we’re all looking for value from the players on our roster, we also have the Value Player of the Year. The Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Year is: Dak Prescott

At an annual salary of $680,848 for the 2019 Dynasty Owner season, Dak Prescott was a leading contender at the start of the season for this honor on a weekly basis. He ended up only winning it once (Week 11), along with one Player of the Week honor in Week 1. Despite the lack of weekly honors, he didn’t disappoint his Dynasty Owners as they got 368.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points during the Dynasty Owner regular season for that $680,848 in salary, a cost per point of just $1,846. That’s just a little more than one-third of the cost of the Player of the Year.

  • Regular Season Points: 368.8
  • Regular Season Salary: $680,848
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $1,846

Rookie of the Year

Our Dynasty Owner Rookie of the Year is: Kyler Murray

The #1 pick in the 2019 NFL draft ended up as the Dynasty Owner Rookie of the Year by producing 300.9 Dynasty Owner fantasy points during the Dynasty Owner regular season, nearly 90 more points than the next highest scoring rookie (Gardner Minshew II). Murray cooled off at the end of the Dynasty Owner regular season and in the playoffs, but had four games with 30.0+ Dynasty Owner fantasy points in the first 11 weeks. He carries a $8.79 million annual salary for the next four Dynasty Owner seasons.

  • Regular Season Points: 300.9
  • Regular Season Salary: $8,789,661
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $29,211

Free Agent of the Year

Our free agent of the year is a player who produced the most Dynasty Owner fantasy points over the course of the Dynasty Owner regular season, but was not drafted by any Dynasty Owners.

Our Dynasty Owner Free Agent of the Year is: Gardner Minshew II

A rookie sixth round draft pick, Minshew started off the year as the Jacksonville backup QB and thus, was not drafted in any Dynasty Owner leagues. By the end of his magical 2019 season, he was the starter in Jacksonville and rostered in 78% of Dynasty Owner leagues. During the Dynasty Owner regular season, he produced 212.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points for only a salary of $677,721. While he’s not officially the starter in Jacksonville for 2020, his low salary for the next three years means he could win the 2020 Value Player of the Year as well.

  • Regular Season Points: 212.4
  • Regular Season Salary: $677,721
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $3,191

Position Players of the Year

In addition, we have other awards to give away for Position Players of the Year and Value Position Players of the Year at every position (QB, RB, WR, TE, K).

QB of the Year: Lamar Jackson (BAL) – 429.7 points

Nobody was really close to Lamar Jackson for QB of the Year. Deshaun Watson was the #2 regular season QB and still finished 60.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points behind Jackson.

Value QB of the Year: Dak Prescott (DAL) – 368.8 points

Prescott was the #3 overall QB and Value QB of the Year by a wide margin with his $1,846 cost per point. Kyle Allen was the second best Value QB due to his $525,000 annual salary, but still fell well short of Prescott with a $2,717 cost per point ($525,000 annual salary divided by 193.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points).

RB of the Year: Christian McCaffrey (CAR) – 389.6 points

McCaffrey had a monster year and became just the third player in NFL history to have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving. He also scored 19 TDs. Overall, he scored the second most points in Dynasty Owner (389.6), behind only Lamar Jackson. McCaffrey was also a model of consistency with just two weeks of under 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Despite all of the yards, scoring and scoring over 40.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points twice, McCaffrey did not win a single Dynasty Owner Player of the Week honor. His 2019 performance certainly justified his ADP of 5 and he might go quicker in 2020 Dynasty Owner drafts with two more years left on his contract at just $4.31 million annually.

  • Regular Season Points: 389.6
  • Regular Season Salary: $4,310,326
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $11,063

Value RB of the Year: Austin Ekeler (LAC) – 269.1 points

Ekeler won two Dynasty Owner Value Player of the Week honors, the first week with 42.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points and the last week of the Dynasty Owner regular season with 33.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. In between, he had five performances of over 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points and just one below 10.0 (5.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 6). Ekeler scored a lot of his points while Melvin Gordon was holding out at the beginning of the year, but still maintained his value once Gordon returned to the Chargers lineup. Fortunately for his Dynasty Owners, he did all of this for only $556,667 in salary. Unfortunately, his contract expired at the end of the season and he will command a lot more in 2020 and beyond.

  • Regular Season Points: 269.1
  • Regular Season Salary: $556,667
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $2,069

WR of the Year: Michael Thomas (NO) – 303.5 points

Thomas was a consistent source of Dynasty Owner fantasy points week in and week out for his Dynasty Owners. He had a low of 10.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 13, but surpassed 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points eight times. He only cost his Dynasty Owners just under $1.28 million in salary in 2019, but has signed a huge extension that kicks in for 2020 ($96.5 million for 5 years) so his Owners will have to decide if they can absorb the extra $18 million in salary to keep him on their rosters.

  • Regular Season Points: 303.5
  • Regular Season Salary: $1,279,743
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $4,217

Value WR of the Year: Chris Godwin (TB) – 259.0 points

Godwin won the Value Player of the Week honor twice in 2019 and takes the season long award as well for WRs. It was a season of ups and downs for Godwin and his Dynasty Owners. He had the two Value Player of the Week winning weeks (41.2 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 4 and 37.4 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 12) plus another week with 30.0+ points. On the flip side, half of the time (7 out of 14 weeks in the Dynasty Owner regular season), his Dynasty Owners got less than 15.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Godwin only cost $821,041 for the 2019 season and has one year remaining on his contract, so his Dynasty Owners will likely take the week to week fluctuations in stride for another year.

  • Regular Season Points: 259.0
  • Regular Season Salary: $821,041
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $3,170

TE of the Year: Travis Kelce (KC) – 201.3 points

As the second most expensive TE in Dynasty Owner, Kelce earned his nearly $9.4 million annual salary by getting his Dynasty Owners 201.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points over the course of the Dynasty Owner regular season. Kelce was a consistent source of points every week with a low of 9.8 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 6 and a Dynasty Owner regular season high of 23.7 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 2. He also came through in the Dynasty Owner playoffs with two games of over 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points when it really counted.

  • Regular Season Points: 201.3
  • Regular Season Salary: $9,368,400
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $46,539

Value TE of the Year: Darren Waller (OAK) – 175.5 points

If you didn’t want to spend over $9 million for Kelce at the beginning of the year, there were several cheaper TE options available for salaries of under $1 million (George Kittle, Austin Hooper, Mark Andrews). However, none of them ended the Dynasty Owner regular season with as many Dynasty Owner fantasy points as Darren Waller (175.5 Dynasty Owner fantasy points). His best game was a 31.6 Dynasty Owner fantasy point performance in Week 7, while his worst game was a 7.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy point performance in Week 10. Waller was very consistent week to week with only five weeks of less than 10.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. His salary of $675,000 was on par with Kittle and slightly lower than Hooper or Andrews, but his value in 2019 was the best of the four of them. However, that ends in 2020 as he signed a new contract in October of 2019 that will push his Dynasty Owner salary to $7.45 million annually.

  • Regular Season Points: 175.5
  • Regular Season Salary: $675,000
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $3,846

K of the Year: Wil Lutz (NO) – 121.0 points

New Orleans kicker Wil Lutz was the top kicker in Dynasty Owner this year with 121.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points during the Dynasty Owner regular season. He edged out Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker for the honor by just 5.0 points. Lutz only missed five kicks (4 FGs and 1 PAT) during the Dynasty Owner regular season. Lutz doesn’t come cheap in Dynasty Owner with a salary of $4.05 million annually over five years, but if you value stability at the kicker position, he was a great choice this season.

  • Regular Season Points: 121.0
  • Regular Season Salary: $4,050,000
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $33,471

Value K of the Year: Harrison Butker (KC) – 115.0 points

At a salary of just $510,000 annually, Harrison Butker was the Value Kicker of the Year and ranked third overall with 115.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points during the Dynasty Owner regular season. His ADP of 130 showed that many Dynasty Owners valued having the Kansas City kicker on a cheap one-year, minimum salary deal. Butker also tied for the best individual game performance by a kicker with 20.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in Week 9.

  • Regular Season Points: 115.0
  • Regular Season Salary: $510,000
  • Regular Season Cost per Point: $4,435

Congratulations to all of our winners. Our next article will tackle the Biggest Busts of 2019. Hope you enjoyed the first season of Dynasty Owner. Please keep in touch with us on Twitter.
