Thursday Night Football: Week 17

Cowboys @ Titans

By: Matt Morrison (@dynastyjerk)

The Cowboys will travel and meet the Titans tonight. While this game has many playoff implications for Dallas, it has very little significance for Tennessee. No matter what the Titans do today, the game next week against Jacksonville will decide the AFC South division winner. I say this game has very little significance for Tennessee because it could matter in the case of a tie between Tennessee and Jacksonville. Assuming there is a winner in the Week 18 game, then this game has no playoff significance.

Value of the Game Recap

Zonovan Knight$705,000271115.1

Zonovan Knight was my pick last week. This pick was one of my worst for the whole year. Not my top worst pick because of the Foster Moreau ($752,098) article a few weeks ago. Knight had 2.3 Dynasty Owner fantasy points for the second week in a row. He was barely used with only 7 touches.

This is another pick to forget. I still feel like the process was right. The Jets just didn’t utilize him at all even in poor weather.

Instead, Riley Patterson ($825,000) ended the game as the biggest value. He costs only $825,000 in Dynasty Owner, and he earned 11.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points last week.

Overall Record: 7 – 10

Starters

Dak Prescott ($40,000,000)

Dak is an auto start if you roster him. He isn’t on your Championship roster for $40,000,000 if you don’t plan on playing him this week.

Tony Pollard ($796,945)

Ezekiel Elliott ($15,000,000)

Pollard and Zeke are both at the point where they both need to be started. Pollard is RB7 for the season while Zeke is RB20.

Derrick Henry ($12,500,000)

I’m going to preface this by saying that I doubt Henry is going to play in this game. As I mentioned earlier, there is likely no playoff implications for the Titans in this game. I would opt on the side of caution and bench Henry after he popped up on the injury report with a hip injury.  That being said, I am starting him if he is active as unlikely as that seems.

CeeDee Lamb ($3,502,503)

Lamb was a matchup winner last week when he had 34.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points.  I can’t promise a carbon copy of last week, but his floor should be at least 18.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points in this game.

Dalton Schultz ($10,931,000)

Schultz is one of the Top 6 tight ends for me this week. Throw him out there and hope for a high volume game.

Bench

Here at Dynasty Owner, you not only get points from your Starting lineup, but also from your Bench. Your Dynasty Owner teams get 25 percent of the points scored from players on your Bench added to the total final score. This means that Bench scoring could (and often does) affect the outcome of individual matches as well as championships. Here are the players I would be okay putting on my Bench.

Malik Willis ($1,290,025)

If there is such a thing as a shaky Bench player, Willis would qualify. I am putting him on my Bench if I have no other options, and by “no other options” I mean literally no other options.

Robert Woods ($16,250,000)

Chigoziem Okonkwo ($1,041,085)

Both of these low tier receivers should also be desperation plays. I couldn’t imagine starting either, but I can see a scenario where you have to put them into your Bench.

Value of the Game

Week 17 ProjectionSalaryReceptionsTotal YardsTDsDOFP
Tony Pollard$796,945458115.8

It would not take a career game from Pollard in order for him to be the Value of the Game (VOTG) in this final Thursday Night game. That being said, I have him getting a decent amount of receiving work, and I have him getting into the end zone through the air as well. If both of those predictions come true, then he will have little trouble becoming the VOTG for Week 17

I want to sincerely thank all of you who have read my articles this year. It was a blast as always. As I’ve said before, my only goal is that some of you enjoy reading these as much as I like writing them. I will see you all in 2023.

Take care and be safe.
